OUR PROMISE
Our Berkshire-Yorkshire cross pigs are raised as nature intended. The animals are allowed to move freely in their environment and are kept outside year round, with access to indoor & outdoor shelter for warmth during the winter.
We raise our animals until they are about 7-8 months old and weigh approximately 220-250 pounds. The animals are never raised with the use of antibiotics or hormones. The pigs’ diet consists of preserved forages, locally sourced mixture of non-sprayed wheat, barley, oats & peas plus a vitamin/mineral supplement. Our pigs are never fed any animal by-products. We do not carry out any procedures such as tail docking and teeth clipping as it is not necessary in their stress-free environment.

Our pork is set to be processed at Outlaw’s inspected facility in Haynes on April 5th 2023 which is where they will need to be picked up from (Outlaw’s will be changing their name to Alta Meats Ltd)
A whole hog can range from 100-150 pounds of take-home cut & wrapped meat. *this is different from hanging weight*
Here’s a brief explanation and example of average meat yields:
A 250 lb. live hog yields a 180 lb. hanging weight which yields 125 lbs of take-home pork.
*This varies depending upon the size of the pig, your chosen cuts, processing methods etc.*
How Much Freezer Space Do I Need?
As a general rule 50 lbs. of meat should fit in about 2.25 cu. ft. of cooler/freezer space, so for 140lbs of meat you will need approximately 6.3 cu. ft. of freezer space.
*This varies depending on the type of cuts chosen and processing methods, feel free to ask the butcher closer to pickup time*
PRICE
Price is $4.95 per pound hanging weight, plus your separate processing fees due to the butcher. *Please note the following*
- Hanging weight is not the same as take-home meat weight. There is approximately 30% loss from the hanging weight (trimming etc.)*
- Processing fees vary greatly depending on cuts etc. please contact Outlaws for a price range
- A non-refundable deposit of $400.00 is required at time of ordering. This reserves your pork order. Balance left owing is due upon receipt of hanging weight*
Cost breakdown example 1:
185 lbs hanging weight x $4.95 per pound= $915.75 + Processing fees to butcher
($400.00 due upon reservation, $515.75 due upon receipt of hanging weight)
Example 2:
160 lbs hanging weight x $4.95 per pound= $792.00 + Processing fees to butcher
($400.00 due upon reservation, $392 due upon receipt of hanging weight)
HOW TO ORDER
To purchase your pig, please complete the following:
1. Reserve your hog: submit a $400 deposit to freshsidefarm@gmail.com
*Deposit is roughly 50% of your order total and the remainder of the cost will be requested and due upon receipt of hanging weight. We must receive deposit prior to butcher date*
2. Send us your contact information: Email or text us at freshsidefarm@gmail.com or 604-791-1945 with your name, phone number and confirmation of your deposit.
3. Pay remainder of balance: Upon receipt of hanging weight, we will contact you with the hanging weight and final balance due. *Final balance due within 3 days of request*
4. Contact butcher: Contact Outlaws (soon to be Alta Meats Ltd.) with your completed cut sheet (found at https://www.altameat.com/_files/ugd/2b6fc7_49fbb497c3da4597abd23e9d559c9...) and arrange payment and pick-up with them.
