I wish to rehome a 17 month old female Karelian Bear Dog, preferably to a rural location on an acreage or farm. Jiva is a friendly, intelligent, middle sized dog, who I have raised with her sister since she was a young puppy. She is vet, checked, has an identification chip, all her shots including rabies, and is housetrained. She is extremely affectionate and good with children & is largely grown beyond her puppy exuberance. She is in excellent physical condition as I run her 3 km per day.
I am rehoming her because I recently adopted a younger male puppy & my place is not suitable for 3 dogs.
The Karelian Bear Dog breed was developed in northeast Finland to act as a deterrent for predators, such as bear, cougars, and coyotes. They are currently being used on ranches in central BC and Alaska to harass and chase away bears who may be a risk to cattle.
